Trump Says Iran Talks Progressing Rapidly Amid Ongoing Tensions
In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump said: "Talks are continuing, at a rapid pace, with the Islamic Republic of Iran."
Meanwhile, Iranian media reported that Tehran had temporarily suspended indirect communications with the United States through mediators, citing objections to ongoing Israeli military actions in Lebanon.
The broader regional situation has remained highly volatile in recent months. According to reports, tensions escalated following military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran in February, which were followed by retaliatory actions from Tehran targeting Israel and US-aligned positions in the Gulf, along with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
A ceasefire was later reached on April 8 through mediation involving Pakistan, though subsequent discussions held in Islamabad reportedly failed to produce a durable settlement.
Despite that setback, diplomatic efforts have continued in an attempt to stabilize the situation and prevent further escalation across the region.
