Iran Warns US to Accept Peace Plan as Nuclear Tensions, War Costs Escalate

(MENAFN) Iran has issued a new warning to the United States, insisting that Washington must accept Tehran’s latest peace proposal or face continued diplomatic and strategic setbacks, according to reports.

The comments were made by Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who said that the US must recognize what Tehran describes as the “rights of the Iranian people” under a proposed 14-point framework aimed at ending the ongoing conflict.

According to reports, Ghalibaf argued that failure to accept the proposal would prolong instability and increase costs for the United States, particularly in terms of military expenditure and broader regional commitments.

Tensions remain high following months of hostilities involving Iran and US-Israeli operations, which have contributed to wider regional instability and economic disruption.

According to reports, US President Donald Trump has rejected Tehran’s proposal, describing it as unacceptable and reiterating confidence in eventual US strategic success.

At the same time, US officials have reportedly estimated that the financial cost of the conflict has risen to nearly $29 billion, reflecting sustained military operations and logistical expenditures.

Iranian officials say their counterproposal includes demands related to ending military actions across multiple fronts, easing restrictions linked to maritime operations, and addressing frozen financial assets held abroad.

According to reports, the United States has put forward its own framework for negotiations, though details remain limited and both sides have continued to dispute core conditions.

Iranian military and defense officials have also warned of increased readiness in the event of renewed escalation, while continuing to emphasize that diplomatic options remain open if conditions are met.

According to reports, the standoff reflects a broader impasse in negotiations, with both sides maintaining firm positions while signaling readiness for either continued diplomacy or renewed confrontation.
