Hezbollah Says Iranian Strikes on Israel Intended to Reinforce Lebanon Ceasefire Position

(MENAFN) Lebanese group Hezbollah has stated that recent Iranian missile strikes on Israel were intended to pressure Israel to adhere to the existing ceasefire arrangement in Lebanon, according to reports.

In its first public response to a day of reciprocal strikes between Iran and Israel, following Israeli attacks on Beirut, Hezbollah described the Iranian actions as carrying “a message of moral, political and field commitment toward Lebanon.”

The group said the strikes occurred in coordination with what it described as parallel support from Yemen’s Houthi movement, framing the actions as part of broader regional efforts aimed at deterring Israel.

Hezbollah also said that Iran’s involvement demonstrated Tehran’s continued backing of Lebanon, while criticizing certain official Lebanese positions toward Iran as being contrary to national interests.

In its statement, the group reiterated calls for Israel to withdraw from Lebanese territory, allow the return of displaced civilians, and support the reconstruction of damaged areas, describing these issues as central national priorities.
