US Embassy in Jerusalem Suspends Consular Services After Iranian Strikes
In the notice, the embassy said all US government employees and their family members have been instructed to remain in shelter-in-place conditions until further notice. Staff were also advised to stay ready to move to protected areas in the event of air raid sirens, as Israeli authorities continue to issue alerts across multiple regions.
The embassy confirmed that its consular operations in both cities would remain closed for the day due to the ongoing security situation.
The decision comes amid heightened regional tensions following missile exchanges between Iran and Israel, which have prompted increased safety precautions for diplomatic personnel and civilians.
Separately, Donald Trump urged Iran to return to negotiations after the missile strikes, suggesting that a nuclear agreement could still be reached within days.
In remarks to media outlet, he said: “You’ve shot your missiles, that’s enough. Get back to the table and make a deal,” adding that a deal could potentially be finalized “Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday of this coming week.”
